Day 1 12-25-05

This is our arrival day into Sydney. It's also Christmas day, so many places are closed.

Here I am on our first subway ride.

Here's Bernadetta.

The famous Harbor bridge welcomes us in the background.

Here's our home for the next four days.

Again.

Downtown Sydney is deserted.

Walking around.

The architecture in Sydney is surprising Gothic for a recently built town. Must be the european heritage.

One last downtown shot.

Underwater aquarium.

They have sharks here.

With bright eyes.

And big teeth!

Merry Christmas!

Day 2 12-26-05

Today we're going to Manly beach. It's the first of Sydney's northern beachs, and it's very nice.

Wow, the ferry ride goes right past the Opera house.

This is Manly.

This is not the beach, we took wharf pictures before heading to the beach area.

Nice blue water. Sunny day.

Well populated beach here.

This is where we got most of the sunburn for the trip, hanging out on the beach. I'm still peeling a little.

The parasailing guys took the day off, so we get to go kayaking instead.

Bernadette's a natural.

But only as long as I'm not paddling. Poor legs got quite burnt.

Day 3 12-27-05

Busy day today. We take in the zoo, the royal botanical gardens, some more of downtown, and catch the movie Fun with Dick and Jane.

Ferrying out to zoo.

Koala in the tree.

Gorillas.

Penguins, australian-style.

B in front of the penguins.

First kangeroo picture.

Kangeroo looks at Bernadetta.

Now he's looking at me.

still.

Actually, I was nervous posing right next to the big ole emu.

Mike and Berna in front of kangeroos.

Here they are between us.

Looking onto Sydney from the zoo.

They're friendly birds, aren't they?

Wallabie, right?

Back at circular quay.

at the opera house.

Only took this one picture at the Bontanical Gardens. It illustrates that all the trees are chock full of big red bats. i'm not a big bat fan...
